What’s Included:

A modern electric motorcycle, 3rd party insurance, and a helmet (though we suggest bringing your own if you're particular). You also get logistical and mechanical support (just in case), a vehicle orientation, 5 nights’ accommodation, and a 2-day cave expedition. We’ll even throw in a start and finish party, some sweet swag, and a transfer to Hanoi at the end to boot.

What isn’t:

Flights, personal travel insurance, and your own way to the start line in Hoi An.

Getting to the start line:

Hoi An is a UNESCO site, which is why it doesn't have an airport. Fly into Da Nang (DAD), which is about 45–55 minutes away. If you’re coming from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, take a domestic flight or a sleeper bus—some of which are surprisingly decent.

Getting home from the finish:

We’ll arrange a group bus to Hanoi the morning after the finish where we’ll be able to share our tearful goodbyes.

How do I "juice up" the bike?

The bike charges via a standard wall socket. There is a charger in the storage compartment. With a kind smile, most cafes or food stops will let you charge whilst you’re taking the load off. But please do repay their generosity with a few dong.

How long does it actually take?

A full charge from zero takes 4–5 hours. Generally, one minute of charging buys you 1km of riding. It’s a good excuse to have a long lunch and a bit of a wander.

How far can I go on a charge?

You should be looking at around 200km of range (125 miles) on a full charge, obviously this depends on how you ride as well as the terrain you're riding on. If you're spending most of the morning going uphill or doing highway speeds, expect that number to drop.

What happens if I run out of battery in the middle of nowhere?

We understand range anxiety is a thing. And the thought of running out of charge is very not fun. If it's any consolation we've never had someone run out of charge. You'll be able to see your battery percentage on the bike's display and realistically you'll never be more than 30 mins for somewhere that has a socket for you to plug into. Top tips from us; If you set mental reminder to charge up once you reach 40%, or never drop below 25% that should help cure any range anxiety. And remember your ABCs; Always Be Charging. If you stop to check out a village, plug the bike in. If you truly get stranded, the support vehicle can assist, but expect a bit of a wait and some light judgment from the team.

Do I need a motorcycle license?

Yes. There is no creative way around the law. You need a license for up to 125cc or equivalent and an International Driving Permit, specifically 1968 Vienna Convention IDP. If you show up without them, you’ll be watching the trip from the support van. Not all countries have signed up to this convention so please check before signing up. What riding gear should I bring?

We're happy to provide a helmet for you if you need one, in the typical local style. But if you already have one, or want something a bit better suited to your needs you're more than welcome to bring one. We highly recommend that you buy or bring your own riding gloves as well as wearing sturdy shoes that would be sensible for riding a motorcycle. Sandals and socks definitely won't do.

Which 5 nights are included?

We operate on a "one day on, one day off" rhythm. We provide a bed for the 5 nights the group is together. For the other nights, you’re on your own. It’s a taste of autonomy before you have to talk to the rest of us again. These 5 nights are in addition to the cave trek in which you’ll be camping out in the cave.

How do I book the other nights?

You can plan every minute or just see where the road ends. Booking sites work, but quite often a local guesthouse is the better story.

How do I navigate?

We use Google Maps because it works, even if it feels a bit "algorithmic". But it's really up to you, phone, sat nav, paper maps, asking locals or just following the star could all work. Each bike has a mount. We’ll give you the coordinates for the group spots; the route you take to reach them is your business.

How physically demanding is the trek?

If you can run 5km in 50 minutes, you’ll be fine for the trek. If you’re worried about whether you’ll be able to complete the trek or if you have any pre-existing medical conditions that you’re concerned about, we should probably have a chat before you book.

What happens to the bikes during the trek?

They’ll be stored securely. And if you’re really lucky we might even clean them for you.

What about my luggage?

The support van will take one small suitcase per person to the group hotels. For your "off" days, pack a small bag with the essentials. If you can’t carry it, you don't need it.

Is technical support a concierge service?

No. The support vehicle is for mechanical failures and genuine trouble. If you’ve just got a flat tyre or a bruised ego, we’re a phone call away, but we aren't fetching your coffee.

Why electric?

Because it's quiet, it’s local, and it works. It’s the future of moving around without being a nuisance. Plus, seeing if you can make it to the next socket adds a bit of "safe danger" to your day.
